Raise the standard in the quality of life by playing the music and providing the news people need to hear, and put a smile on a listener's face

Bringing a new service to our community. But where have we come from?

Rink Radio may be a new name, but it is born out of a wealth of experience and endeavour. Its Station Manager, Dylan Jones, explains why it has been launched:

It has been created to fulfil a need to improve learning and engage the disengaged through a medium that is so easily accessible, yet thoroughly entertaining. This will be a fantastic opportunity for any child, young person and adult. Radio gave me opportunities to develop skills I have continued to use throughout life.

Rink Radio has developed from the initial concept of East Midlands Internet Radio. Following consultation and a restructure, Rink Radio will place itself in the heart of the south Derbyshire community to broadcast relevant and engaging radio, as well as provide education and training in digital media.

1

Community Radio can provide a small or local business the opportunity to establish a regular online slot to promote their product or service for a fraction of the cost of commercial or national radio.

Businesses can become involved by having an advert, sponsoring a show or feature or helping at our events.

Community Radio aims to create Social Gain

2

The purpose of a community station is to promote social gain, and the key is to encourage as many community groups, whether statutory or part of the voluntary sector, to become involved.

A community group can present dedicated shows as well as record and have an infomercial played regularly.

3

Primary and Secondary Schools, colleges, universities or private educators can all access the station to utilse a unique learning tool - a fully functioning radio station.

Welcome to Rink Radio. Launching in 2014, we will serve and support both the online and offline local community, priding ourselves on giving you a voice and being a non-profit radio station. We have something for everyone every day, includingspecialist shows every weekday covering music genres from rock to jazz and country to dance. Not only do we provide shows for a wide range of different listeners, but we also carry out interviews and reviews, invite special guests on shows, host competitions and challenges, support local talent and offer outside broadcasting which is available for hire for events.
